On the 15th December, 1970, Bill Tilman sent me a letter which remarked on a pitch he gave to the Royal Thames Yacht Club, a letter I’ve been reading as part of the TwT talk for a while now. Last night, I took delight in sharing this pitch, and that very letter, at the Royal Cruising Club dinner which just happened to be at the Royal Thames Yacht Club in Knightsbridge.
A lovely evening with a fine audience of blue water sailors who needed absolutely no introduction to the subject at all. Indeed, many of the RCC members present have sailed those waters themselves, albeit in modern boats rather better equipped for the conditions!
